Parental Guidance

What is the Parental Guidance Lock?

Our Parental Guidance Lock allows you to control which Dave videos you can play on your computer. If you've set up the Parental Guidance Lock your computer won't be able to play any age-restricted videos unless you first type in a password.

What does G stand for?

The G symbol on this website simply stands for 'Guidance'. It's a symbol which will help you decide whether a programme is suitable for you, or your children, to watch. There could be many reasons why we have marked a programme with the G symbol. For example, the programme could contain scenes of violence and/or swearing and/or drug taking and/or nudity. These are just a few examples; however, when you select a programme to view, specific wording will tell you why the G symbol is present.

What's the difference between videos rated 15+ and videos rated 18+?

15+ - We don't think the content is suitable for younger Dave users.

It may contain adult themes, strong language or a degree of violence and sexual references or nudity. Dangerous behaviour or drug references may be featured which we do not think are appropriate for a younger audience.

18+ - We think this content is only suitable for adults.

It may feature the strongest language from the outset or strong or prolonged activity or unedited sexual content or more explicit drug references. It may feature challenging or controversial content we believe you may need to be adult to understand.

How do I set up the Parental Guidance Lock?

The first time you try to watch a video with an age restriction, the Parental Guidance warning will appear. You'll have the option to confirm your age and watch the video or, alternatively, set up the Parental Guidance Lock before you watch the video.

You don't need to register on the Dave site to set up the Parental Guidance Lock - you just need to provide a password.

If you wish to set up the Parental Guidance Lock at a later date, simply click on the 'Parental Guidance' link in the top right hand corner of any page on the Dave website that has a video.

How do I turn off Parental Guidance Lock?

To turn off the Parental Guidance Lock, click on the 'Parental Guidance' link in the top right hand corner of any page on the Dave website that has a video. You'll be asked to enter your password and you can then change your Parental Guidance Lock password or settings.

What happens if I forget my password?

Unfortunately, we're unable to retrieve your password for you if you forget it - however, you can very easily reset the Parental Guidance Lock by deleting your cookies - see 'How to delete Parental Guidance Lock cookies' below. You can then set up the Parental Guidance Lock again with a new password.

How can I stop my children resetting the Parental Guidance Lock password?

You can change the settings of your children's user accounts to stop them deleting temporary internet files and cookies which will then prevent them resetting the Parental Guidance Lock password. If you do this, the password can only be reset if you're logged in as an administrator on the account.
